The Postgraduate Institute of Archaeology (PGIAR), University of Kelaniya, awards a distinguished series of Gold Medals in recognition of exceptional academic achievement, scholarly excellence, and outstanding performance in key disciplines of Archaeology and Heritage Studies.

Named in honour of eminent archaeologists and scholars who have made lasting contributions to the field, these Gold Medals represent the highest academic distinction conferred by PGIAR.

All Gold Medals are offered annually, subject to eligibility criteria and approval of the

relevant academic authorities, and are awarded at the General Convocation of the University of Kelaniya.
